quicksmarthomes® was invited to form a development team with the Australian National University, lead architect and main contractor and within 18 months a 186 studio bedroom student accommodation building was designed, and constructed. It was estimated the time using traditional construction techniques would have been 70 weeks. With the modular process, the time was reduced to 47 weeks over two stages.
As the first and highest modular building of its type in Australia, the project was recognised with awards for sustainability and engineering excellence.
Leading the manufacturing process from procurement through quality management and production, the quicksmarthomes® team worked with the main construction contractor to develop the design. Using standard techniques and products in an unconventional manner, the project enjoyed some unique benefits including the fact the entire fire-rated structure exceeded Australian Standards.
Working closely with the university, the standard modules were adapted to suit ANU’s specific requirements.
